Dstv Mobile in Kenya

Dstv is one of the biggest pay TV service providers in Kenya. Apart from the normal Digital TV subscription, Dstv has introduced a Dstv Mobile service that works on a DVB-H compatible cell phone. In Kenya, Dstv has partnered with mobile service providers to give subscribers an opportunity to have digital television on their handsets. Subscribers on the following networks can subscribe to Dstv mobile.

Reception of Dstv Mobile is however not available every where as is the case with the normal pay TV service. In order to have Dstv on your DVB-H compatible cell phone in Kenya, you must either be in Nairobi or Mombasa. Other regions are yet to be covered but Dstv mobile promises to expand to other regions.

Today, a cell phone is not just a cell phone anymore – it’s so much more, that’s according to Dstv Mobile. Before Dstv mobile, cell phones only needed to have features like internet capability and other multimedia features like video recording. Today however if you live in Nairobi or Mombasa, a DVB-H compatible cell phone is the best. You will be able to subscribe to Dstv Mobile and enjoy your favorite programs anywhere within its reception region.

Local cannels like KTN, NTV, CITIZEN and KBC are now available on Dstv Mobile bouquet. DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast – Handheld) is one of the most recent mobile broadcast technologies, allowing for the live transmission of television channels to a cell phone (via digital terrestrial broadcast). Other countries with Dstv Mobile include Namibia, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana.
