Safaricom has recently taken a significant step to enhance its competitiveness in the mobile service provider market by reducing its data bundle prices by over 50%. Recognizing the need to align with the rates offered by other providers, Safaricom aims to make internet access more affordable for its customers. Despite already offering the fastest browsing speeds through its 3G network, Safaricom's data rates have been perceived as the most expensive in the industry. As part of their commitment to improving affordability, Safaricom has also introduced the convenience of purchasing data bundles online. The new data bundle tariffs from Safaricom are now categorized into two plans: prepaid and postpaid.

To activate Safaricom Broadband Data bundles, customers can send a text message with the price of the desired bundle using their modem sim to 450. For example, to purchase 200MB, send 499 to 450. If a bundle expires before being fully utilized, customers must subscribe to a new bundle to reactivate the remaining balance. It's important to note that bundles expiring after 30 days have a grace period of an additional 30 days for reactivation through a new top-up, while bundles expiring after 90 days have an extended 90-day renewal period without losing the remaining balance. Safaricom's out-of-bundle rate for broadband remains at Kshs. 8 per megabyte.

With these significant reductions in data bundle prices, Safaricom aims to provide its customers with more affordable internet access while maintaining its position as the provider with the fastest browsing speeds. By continuously adapting to the evolving needs of its customers, Safaricom strives to deliver exceptional value and a seamless online experience.
