AFC Leopards and Smart TV Launch Ingwe TV

Latest developments in the Kenyan premier league indicate birth of a new Television channel from AFC Leopards courtesy of Smart TV. The new television channel named Ingwe TV will be aired on Africa Sports Network found on Smart TV Kenya bouquet channels. It is obviously great news for AFC Leopards fans around the world who will have an opportunity to watch their favorite team play; Ingwe TV presents a more revolutionized step from a Kenyan football premier league team to indulge supporters in its football activities.

Ingwe fans will now be able to access the web based TV across the globe; however, it is not clear how Super Sport will react to the news considering its exclusive rights to air Kenyan premier league games, Smart TV CEO was quick to dismiss this scenario indicating they were not violating anyone’s rights. In addition to broadcasting football matches, Ingwe TV will also air educational programs and other activities related to AFC Leopards soccer club.

A word from Fred Lutta, an official of AFC Leopards club in charge of fans said they were really thrilled by the development indicating the move will build an extensive fan base across the world for their team. Ingwe TV will have professionally edited videos touching various topics concerning the club keeping its fans updated on every move.

Although Ingwe TV looks more of too ambitious with an estimated budget of over Kshs.60m, AFC Leopards should be given due credit for being the first Kenyan premier league as of now to explore this exciting venture. Football sport in Kenya is picking up after boring seasons experienced in late 90’s due to mismanagement and Ingwe TV could just be right on track to explore a great opportunity.

AFC Leopards fans will have exclusive access to interviews, behind the scene footage, club archived matches, historical documentaries, highlights, fans features and magazines. The entire Kenyan football fraternity will have a lot to smile about considering Ingwe TV’s 90 percent local content policy.

Good initiative. At a time when some local media is more interested in just regurgitating what is being shown from the English Premier League, it is great to see a company promoting a local side.

Kudos Leopards.
